20Khz Ultrasonic Side Milling Spindle For Engineering Ceramics

New Process 20Khz Ultrasonic Ceramic Machining Description: The transducer vibrates the sonotrode at low amplitudes and high frequencies. The sonotrode is usually made of low carbon steel. A constant stream of abrasive slurry flows between the sonotrode and work piece. This flow of slurry allows...

Technical Parameters:

Introduction :

Ultrasonic assisted drilling is a hybrid machining process combining the material removal mechanisms of conventional ultrasonic machining and diamond grinding, which has been shown to be a promising, cost-effective machining method for hard, brittle materials. Such as Silicon, Silicon carbide, Ceramic composites, Quartz, Alumina, Alumina nitride, Fiber optics, Zirconia, Glass, Sapphire

Advantages :

Virtually any hard material can be machined

Little heat is produced

Since the motion of the tool is up-and-down vibration rather than rotation as in traditional machining, the holes cut are not limited to circular shapes but can be any shape. Custom "cookie cutter" tools can cut complicated shapes.

Good surface finish and higher structural integrity is obtained

Applications :

1. Hard and brittle materials can be machined like tungsten carbide, diamond and glass. These are difficult to machine in conventional m/c-ing process.
2. Wire drawing dies of tungsten carbide can be drilled by this process.

3. Circular as well as non-circular holes can  be done with straight or curved axes.
4. It has been proved successful in machining geranium, silicon quartz and synthetic ruby etc.

CE Certification:

Q:Is the speed higher, the surface will the surface roughness value decreases?

A:The surface roughness value of conventional machining decreases with the increase of the spindle speed, but it increases with the increase of the spindle speed in the rotary ultrasonic milling process. This also shows that in the ultrasonic milling process, No need for high speed.

Q:Does ultrasonic milling require high speed?

A:Our testing shows that high speeds are not required in rotary ultrasonic milling. In both processing methods, rotary ultrasonic milling obviously has more advantages than traditional processing methods for machining surface roughness values.

Q:What is the amplitude on the horn when working?

A: The amplitude of the horn amplification to 0.01 ~ 0.15mm, and then passed to the tool, and drive the tool for ultrasonic vibration, forcing the suspension in the abrasive under ultrasonic vibration of the tool head to continue polishing at a great speed.
